Randy started wrestling at the age of 8 in Sibley Iowa. In addition to wrestling Randy played football, baseball and track. Injuries his Junior and Senior year prevented him from wrestling, but did not prevent him from wrestling at Moorehead State after he graduated high school. Randy has been coaching high school wrestling the last 29 years through out Texas. He started two wrestling programs in the valley and grew the sport of wrestling in that area. Because of these efforts Randy has been nominated for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. After having a successful coaching career seeing multiple state placers and champions, Randy has decided to watch his two children grow in the sport and became a club coach. While his wrestling accomplishments are stout, what makes Coach Madsen stand out is his desire to help develop young people through the sport of wrestling, especially those who haven't had the opportunity before.
Coach Madsen began coaching wrestling back in 2003 in South Texas. At that time there were no other female wrestling coaches and for years, she was the first and only female wrestling coach in the Valley.
She and her moved to the Austin area in 2012 where she continued to coach alongside her husband as his assistant until she took a step back to raise their 2 kids and focus on her career in education administration.
Today, she finds herself coming back on the mat bringing her experience and in support of both her kids who love the sport of wrestling as much as she does.
